Bank Julius Baer · Taipei · 2026 · Freelance

Two investor roadshows for a Swiss private bank

The receiptBooked in January. Booked again in June.

Julius Baer brought me in to run its Taipei roadshows end to end: venue sourcing, invitations, menus, run-downs, logistics and the on-site desk, for 400 to 600 guests across several venues each time.

The brief. Two roadshows, January and June 2026. Each ran multiple sessions across different venues over a few days, for 400 to 600 guests, with the polish a private bank expects.

The delivery. I sourced and negotiated the venues, managed the invitation flow, planned menus with the caterers, wrote the run-downs, coordinated logistics between venues, and worked the floor on event days.

The receipt. The January booking led to the June one. Freelancers live on repeat business, and that second call is the review that counts.

UNICEF TEAM, monthly giving built like a fan club

The receiptROI 22 · 12× exposure · 2× revenue

A new membership brand for monthly donors, built with UNICEF's Korea committee. K-pop idols and Olympic champions fronted it for fan communities in Hong Kong, mainland China and Taiwan, and every member gets a bracelet to show they belong.

Challenge. Grow the monthly donor base past its usual audience. Younger people rarely answer a traditional charity appeal, so the launch had to work where they already spend their attention: fan communities. It also had to travel beyond Hong Kong.

The play. The team built a membership brand, We Are UNICEF TEAM, with UNICEF's Korea and Hong Kong committees working as one. Siwon of Super Junior, Henry, Aristo, and the Olympic champions Yuna Kim and Vivian Kong each fronted it with a signed personal message to their fans. A collectible bracelet turned the monthly pledge into something you can wear. An eight-stage email journey walks each new member from welcome to their first anniversary. I ran the digital channels, the email lifecycle and the analytics, and kept the message consistent across partners, platforms and three languages.

Result. Digital exposure came in at 12 times our average campaign, revenue doubled, and the recorded ROI was 22, the best number the programme has posted.

2026 Football Fever: rivals on the pitch, teammates for children

The receiptThe creative centrepiece of the UNICEF TEAM launch

Nearly two decades ago a UNICEF shoot photographed Messi bathing a baby named Lamine Yamal. Both are UNICEF ambassadors today, and the campaign message wrote itself: every child has potential and deserves the chance to thrive. In a World Cup year, that story carried UNICEF TEAM to football fans.

The insight. UNICEF's own archive already held the proof of its message: a photo of Messi cradling baby Yamal, taken through a UNICEF partnership nearly two decades ago. One grew up to captain his country. The other became the youngest star of his generation. Every child has their potential, given the opportunity to thrive.

The creative. Two generations of stars: rivals on the pitch, teammates for children. The team built a bilingual campaign world around that pairing and timed it to World Cup fever, all of it driving sign-ups to UNICEF TEAM. I started my career in football community programmes at the HKFA, so this one felt personal.

Where it sits. Football Fever ran inside the UNICEF TEAM launch above. The exposure, revenue and ROI numbers on that card include this activation.

Holding the line through Hong Kong's most polarised years

The receipt2 children's charities steered through the 2019 storm

In 2019 the social movement flooded both charities' channels with hostile comments. Discipline kept them safe: agreed lines, clear escalation rules, and patience.

ReputationInternal advisoriesCommunity mgmt
Read the playbook

Challenge. RMHC's relationship with McDonald's and UNICEF's media partnerships became lightning rods overnight. Every post risked a comment war, and the people caught in the middle would be the families and children both charities serve.

The play. I wrote the line-to-take playbooks, and the list of what we would not answer publicly. I advised colleagues on their personal social media so a staff post never became the story. At UNICEF we localised HQ guidelines, moved service complaints into DMs, and used dark posts with A/B tests to keep campaigns in front of supportive audiences. Emergency appeals, like the Philippines typhoon response, gave people something constructive to act on.

Result. Both charities kept fundraising through the whole period without a single self-inflicted escalation. The playbook stayed in use for later emergencies, and the colleague advisories became standing internal guidance.

Publications. RMHC Hong Kong Annual Reports 2017 & 2018 and District Council work reports 2016 & 2017: copywriting in Chinese and English, photo direction, layout and typesetting, published online and in print. Plus the BOC Life HK Premier League Official Fans' Guide 2018/19.

Partnerships & events. Sponsorship activation and account servicing for HKFA partners, McDonald's Hong Kong donation appeals for RMHC, press conferences, award presentations, and community programmes that connected league clubs with local NGOs.

The challenge that stuck. A weight-loss video series turned one colleague's fitness journey into a fundraising campaign that raised HK$100,000 for RMHC Hong Kong. The best story we had that year was sitting at the next desk.

The action stage

Let's tell better stories.

You read the whole page, and that kind of attention is what I write for. Nine years on the NGO side taught me what makes corporate purpose believable: real programmes and honest numbers. If your team wants communications built that way, I'd like to talk.
